STRUCTURAL EVALUATION AND REDESIGN OF BUILDING “SXOLI ADELFON
Project's Description

 This project consists of the structural evaluation and design of structural interventions of an existing building, with plans to add an additional floor.

 The building in question is "Sxoli Adelfon," part of the building complex of the General Hospital of Athens, "Evaggelismos." The building accommodates multiple uses, such as education, healthcare, laboratories, examination rooms, mechanical workshop and storage areas.

The load-bearing structure consists of a frame system with reinforced concrete columns and beams, which are arranged in the building’s short transverse direction. It consists of a ground floor and 5 standard floors, a total of 6 levels, excluding the existing stairwell extension, and was constructed in phases from the 1930s to the 1970s.

The redesign and strengthening were carried out in accordance with the ΚΑΝ.ΕΠΕ. (Greek Code of Structural Interventions). in order to accommodate both the addition of a new floor and the retrofitting and renovation of the building.
