Project's Description

The project is located at the east of the Coastal Front Area, adjacent to Poseidonos Av. and extends up to the boundaries of The Ellinikon Park.
It includes the design and construction of a new max 50m high multi-storey residential building with two basements and an amenities area.
Lead architect was B.I.G, while during the conceptual structural design, we collaborated with Arup.
The development consists of two structurally independent parts, one facing north and the other facing west, which comprise 13 and 9 stories respectively. The material of the structural system is reinforced concrete, with prestressed beams 40/80 in the cantilever spans of up to 7m. Regarding the horizontal structural system, all levels are generally formed by 25 to 40 cm thick flat slabs.
The columns with cross-sections ranging from 55 cm to 110 cm are continuous from the foundation to the top of the structure, with a progressive reduction of their cross section towards the top. The lateral force resisting system relies primarily on the five vertical communication cores. The foundation system eventually selected is a raft foundation with varying thickness of up to approximately 2m in the location of the multi-storey core of 13 floors. In the middle of the structurally independent parts, where long spans exist, multi-storey Vierendeel trusses from reinforced concrete were incorporated. The total built-up area amounts approximately to 16.000 m2 for the superstructure and 12.000 m2 for the basements, while the superstructure maximum footprint is 2.627 m2.
