Project's Description
Τhis piece of land was bought on January 1917. The original house has been designed by the architect Anastasios Helmis at the beginning of the second decade of 20th century. The original 3 storey building is listed as “Monument” by the Ministry of Culture as per 11674/411/87 Ministerial Decision. During 1950, among other renovations, a new extension , made of reinforced concrete, has been added at the back of the building in order to facilitate the use of the ground floor as a sanitary ware store.
For the new use, in-situ investigations as well as laboratory tests have been executed according to ΚΑΔΕΤ/ΚΑΝΕΠΕ.In addition , a full preliminary strengthening design has been implemented.
According to the Developed Design, which is being prepared at this stage, the “Monument” is completely separated from the recent concrete extension. An interesting proposal for the strengthening of the front sensitive masonry wall is among others the addition of a steel grid, designed by the architect, at all ground floor windows in order to increase the rigidity of the wall .All concrete reinforcements for the “Monument” use steel plates or steel sections in order to avoid gunite. Mansory is proposed to be reinforced by injections as well as steel plates. Timber roofs are being replaced by new with the use of timber sections of the same geometry.
