EVALUATION AND STRENGHTENING OF Α 7-STOREY BUILDING WITH 2 BASEMENTS IN ATHENS
Project's Description

The reinforced-concrete building was constructed in 1969. Consisting of 10 floors in total, it was used as offices. The architectural proposal includes the change of use of the upper floors into hospitality suits, with the addition of balconies in the perimeter of the building.

Our scope was the on-site identification of the structural system, coordinating the investigation works, structural assessment and strengthening design / rehabilitation of the building. The intervention study was prepared according to the Greek Code of Structural Interventions, but with a seismic loading at least that which was in force at the time of the initial permit, i.e. the one defined by AK-59. Structural reinforcements included shotcrete and CFRP in columns and slabs, and the addition of steel strips in beams. As an additional measure, we specified the demolition of all internal brick masonry walls.
